Shalonda Marshall, LPC, grew up in a small community where her passion for helping others began at an early age. After high school, she gained diverse professional experience, earning certifications and working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), correctional officer, and in customer service. Although these roles strengthened her compassion and resilience, she recognized she had not yet fully stepped into her purpose. With intention and determination, Shalonda reflected on what was missing in her life and created a clear action plan to pursue her calling. She made the decision to return to school, set healthy boundaries to protect her time and energy, and committed herself to her educational journey while prioritizing both her well-being and her family. After completing her undergraduate studies, she began working with the Arizona Department of Child Safety as an Ongoing Specialist. In this role, she developed a deep appreciation for the reunification process, collaborating with community providers to support families through case planning and working toward safe and sustainable reunification. This experience further solidified her purpose and strengthened her desire to help individuals and families build healthier lives. Motivated to expand her impact, Shalonda pursued a Master of Science in Professional Counseling. Her continued work in child welfare, combined with her academic training, ignited a strong desire to fully transition into the mental health profession. Today, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor with several years of experience working with individuals navigating life transitions and adjusting to a new normal. Her professional background includes experience in community mental health, correctional settings, integrated healthcare, and private practice.
In 2024, Shalonda established Talk Through It Counseling PLLC to help remove barriers to therapy for individuals who desire support but struggle to attend sessions during traditional business hours. Recognizing that many individuals face work-related constraints that limit their access to care, she intentionally designed her practice to offer weekend therapy services. Her goal is to allow clients to prioritize their mental health without the added stress of missing work during the week. Shalonda is passionate about collaborating with clients, creating individualized treatment plans, and empowering adolescents, adults, and children (when appropriate for telehealth) to reach their mental health and behavioral goals. She holds advanced credentials as a Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, demonstrating her commitment to trauma-informed and holistic care. For Shalonda, helping others achieve emotional wellness and personal growth is more than a profession, it is her passion and purpose.
